The question artists always ask themselves is whether they should drop an album or just put out singles.
An album is great if you have that kind of status. If you have people waiting on your project then we would say yes, drop albums. But if you're in the fan base building process we would say it's recommended to drop singles BUT you can do both. Here's how and why. See the social media world is very fast. Which means the attention span of a post is short if you know what I mean. People on social media don't particularly pull themselves off social media to listen to albums but will give you the time to listen to a quick 2 to 3 minute single. Plus you don't want to spend to much time away from releasing music. When you drop an album you're actually not dropping music until the album comes out so this makes it so you're away from your potential fan base way too long. The rap game is a game of consistency so the people need to see you as much as possible. Also dropping music consistently opens opportunity for more fans to gravitate to you and your craft. But here's the kicker, you can actually do both. You ca drop singles and albums. So here's how you do it. As you're making the album you can actually drop the songs from the album singly to the streaming platforms while your making the album. So you make 1 song drop it, you make another 1 for the album drop it again. This will help your consistency of putting out music which is great for the algorithm. And keep dropping them as you make them until you have reached the amount of songs you want for the album. Now what you do is compile all the songs together and reupload them to the streaming platforms as a whole album with an album name and everything. See what's going to happen is there are going to be people who have heard maybe 2 or 3 of the singles and really liked the singles they heard so they will go straight to the album to hear those singles again. but while they're there they get the opportunity to run into some of your other great songs they didn't hear yet. That's why this strategy works so well because it opens more opportunity to gain more loyal fans. So yes, go ahead and put them song out. And don't worry, people will still stream the album or EP when you drop it. People will actually stream the album/EP because they followed you're grind while you were consistently dropping those singles. Now they're a loyal fan because you were consistent. Now guess what, they'll want the convenience of having all your songs in one place. So now the combination of the 2 works. So I would say drop those singles for the people consistently then drop the album of those singles. Trust me, They'll love you for it.
